Dal palak mix palya

Palak dal mix palya
Ingredients : 1 cup = 250 ml
  • Palak leaves - 2 cups (after chopping)
  • Tur dal - 1/4 cup
  • Onion - 1 medium sized
  • Green chilly - 1 to 2 (depending upon your spicy level) 
  • Garlic cloves - 6
  • Amchur powder / huli puri - 3/4 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - according to taste
For seasoning :
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Hing - 1/4 tespoon
  • Curry leaves - 1 strand
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Oil - 2 teaspoons

Method :
Step 1. Pressure cook tur dal to 5 to 6 wristles.


Step 2. Wash and chop palak leaves,  onion,  green chilly to small pieces.  Peel off outer skin of garlic.

Step 3. In a thick bottomed kadai,  on LOW flame,  add cumin seeds,  hing,  mustard seeds,  and curry leaves and oil.


Step 4. Saute till mustard splutters.


Step 5. Add turmeric powder and mix well.


Step 6. Add crushed garlic cloves and saute for a minute.


Step 7. Now add chopped onion and saute till onion changes its colour.


Step 8. Now add cooled tur dal and saute till raw smell of dal disappears.


Step 9. Add chopped palak leaves and mix well.  Add salt according to taste, amchur powder / huli puri and sugar.  Mix well.


Step 10. Close the lid for 5 to 6 minutes.


Step 11. Saute occasionally till water evoperates. Enjoy with rice or chapati!
