Ondelagada tambli / urgele sihi tambli / urga gadde sweet tambli is a tasty havyaka recipe which is very healthy too. It is a 'first served tambli'. Very good for memory power too.
First served tambli can also be used for drinking during meals.

In this post, let us see how to prepare ondelagada tambli / urgele sihi tambli / urga gadde sweet tambli.
Ingredients: 1 cup = 250 ml
- Ondelaga / urgele with its root - 2 cups
- Grated coconut - 1 cup
- Pepper - 1 table spoon
- Cumin seeds - 3/4 table spoon
- Ghee - 1 teaspoon
- Butter milk / mashed curd - 1 cup
- Jaggery - 3 table spoons
- Salt - according to taste
- Water - 6 to 7 cups
Timing: 15 minutes
Servings: 6 to 7
Method:
Step 1. In a seasoning pan, splutter pepper and cumin seeds in ghee. Keep aside.

Step 2. Wash ondelaga / urgele along with its root well. Roughly chop into pieces.

Step 3. Blend chopped ondelaga adding enough water to coarse paste.

Step 4. Add grated coconut and spluttered ingredients (pepper and cumin seeds) to blended ondelaga paste and blend again to fine paste.

Step 6. Add 5 to 6 cups of water, butter milk (or mashed curd), jaggery and salt (according to taste) and mix well.

Step 7. Enjoy with rice or you may drink it directly!

1) some people use only leaves
2) some use only roots
3) in this post, we have seen ondelagada tambli using both leaves and roots.
