Cucumber tellevu (savatekayi tellevu)

Cucumber tellevu (savatekayi tellevu)
Cucumber tellevu (savatekayi tellevu) is a havyaka recipe. It is best enjoyed with mango rasayana.

Ingredients: 1 cup = 200 ml

  • Dosa rice - 2 cups
  • Methi seeds - 1 tspoon
  • Cucumber - 2 (around 1.75 cups after chopping)
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Salt - taste

Method:
Step 1. Soak dosa rice and methi seeds overnight (or at-least 3 to 4 hours).

Step 2. Grind grated coconut and cucumber into coarse paste.

Step 3.  Grind soaked dosa rice intto fine paste. Pour cucumber + grated coconut paste to it. Add salt, mix well. Thickness is should be like milk.

Final batter
Step 4. Prepare thin tellevu using banana leaf (as shown below) on dosa tava (I used nonstick dosa tava). No need to add any oil while preparing tellevu.

Roast for about a minute
Step 5. Close lid for a minute. Then roast other side of tellevu(it's optional)

Step 6. Serve with mango rasayana/any types of kayalu/ red coconut chutney. Enjoy!
