Bisibele Bath

In the last post, I have described how to prepare bisibele bath powder. In this, let's see how to prepare bisibele bath. All thanks to sweetest Shalini atte for this recipe.

This method may be slightly different one for you. Here tempering is done in the beginning.

Ingredients: 1 cup = 100 ml

For tempering:

  • Ghee - 2 teapsoons
  • Peanuts - 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teapsoon
  • Urad dal - 1 teapsoon
  • Curry leaves - 1 strand
  • Hing - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon

For cooking bisibele bath:

  • Cooked vegetables - of your choice, I used carrot, beans, tomato, capsicum all together around 3 cups
  • Uncooked Tur dal - 2 cups
  • Uncooked Rice - 2 cups (quantity same as tur dal, that is the key)
  • Bisibele bath powder - 2 to 3 teapsoons
  • Jaggery - 2 teapsoons
  • Tamarind 3 teapsoons (soaked in water for 3 minutes)
  • Salt
  • Coriander leaves - few
  • Water- enough to make this bisibele bath watery, not solid.

Time: 30-40 minutes

Servings : 3

Method:

* Cook rice first.

* Cook chopped vegetables of your choice along with tur dal, preferably in a cooker and keep it aside.

Tur dal+ vegetables, ready for cooking

All other steps (along with ingredients and quantity), I have explained in this video [1 minute].

This is my first overhead shot video. I used my mobile for it. It was around 10 minutes long video shot from my mobile. And it took around 4 hours to edit, split, join, add recipe text, add background music, adjust and what not. It was more complicated than cooking itself :)

Take care. See you in the next post. Kaay rasa is coming up next.
