Appe Huli


Appe Huli

Appe Huli is a very important Havyaka recipe. If there is one cuisine that perfectly represents Havyaka community, then that is Appe Huli. As this song describes Appe Huli is Havyakas' brand :)

You will feel sleepy after eating Appe huli. May be it is rich in vitamin Zzzz :).

There are two methods of preparing it: one is without-boiling-raw-mangoes and the other is with-boiling.

Let us start with first method-without boiling.

Method 1 (without boiling):

Ingredients:

  • Raw mango - 1 medium
  • Green chilly - 1
  • Salt - according to tatse

For seasoning:

  • Oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon 
  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Hing - a pinch

Step 1: Remove outer skin of raw mango and chop. Grind raw mango pieces and green chilly together. Make it a fine paste.

Step 2. Then pour the blended paste through the strainer, keep on stirring and pressing. Add salt.




Step 3. Season it with mustard seeds,cumin, hing and curry leaves in oil.

Method II (With boiling)


Step 1. Boil raw mango pieces and green chilly together. Then mash it with masher.

Step 2. Drain it. Add salt and mix well.


Step 3. Season it with mustard (1 tspoon), red chillies (1), hing (1/4 tspoon) and curry leaves (few).


Step 4. Enjoy!
