Besan flour Instant Dosa

Dosa is a traditional Havyaka recipe. It is prepared on almost all days for the breakfast in our villages. Usually we need to start the preparation for dosa making the night before or at least eight hours of time is needed. Some commonly prepared types of dosa recipes are uttappammasala dosaridge gourd dosa / heerekayi dose, rava talippittusugarcane juice dosa / kabbina haalina dose etc.  However, there are many variants of dosa which can be prepared in short period of time. Neerdose and rice flour roti - instant / masala akki rotti / talippittu are such instant havyaka recipes which can be prepared usually within one hour. Besan flour instant dosa is also one such havyaka recipe. Besan flour instant dosa is a tasty recipe which can be prepared in very short time usually for breakfast or for snacks. It can be best enjoyed with coconut chutney or butter.

Generally bhajji are prepared using besan flour, but it absorbs oil. Those who are health-conscious and avoid oily recipes, but want to eat besan flour related recipes can also try and enjoy this recipe. The preparation time for this recipe is about 20 minutes, which makes it a choice when you have to prepare something quickly generally when guests arrive without prior notice. The ingredients needed for preparing this Havyaka recipe is normally available in all kitchens. This can also be prepared during evening time for enjoying it along with tea.

Let us see how to prepare the besan flour instant dosa step by step along with pictures.

Ingredients: (1 cup = 250 ml)

  • Besan flour - 1cup
  • Sooji rava - 1/2 cup
  • Curd - 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies and garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion - 1 medium
  • Coriander leaves - few
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Salt - according to taste
Preparation time - 20 minutes
Yield - 4-5 dosa


Step 1: Mix besan flour(1 cup), sooji rava(1/2 cup), curd(1/2 cup) and water (1 cup).

Add one cup water
Step 2: Add garlic & green chilly paste. Add chopped onion, coriander leaves, turmeric powder and salt.

Add a pinch of turmeric powder

Step 3: Mix everything. Keep it aside for 15 minutes

Step 4: Prepare dosa.

Step 5: Enjoy besan flour instant dosa with chutney.
