Apple Shira/Halwa / sebu hannina shira

Apple Shira/Halwa / sebu hannina shira
It was an experiment. Successful one I guess.
Ingredients: 1 cup = 100 ml
  • Chiroti rava - 1 cup
  • Milk or Water - 2.5 cups
  • Sugar - 1.5 cups to 2 cups (depending upon sweetness of apple) (here i used brown sugar)
  • Apple - 1 (medium sized)
  • Ghee - 1/2 cup
  • Dry fruits - cashews, raisins etc
  • Cardamom - 1 to 2
  • Salt - a pinch
Step 1. Cut one apple into two halves. Grind one half to a fine paste. Chop another half as shown below.

Step 2. In a thick bottomed kadhai (on low to medium flame), roast rava (1 cup) adding ghee (1/2 cup) till colour changes to light brown.

Step 3. Pour hot milk (2.5 cups) to roasted rava. Stir for 2 minutes.

Step 4. Add grated apple to it. Mix well. Cook for a minute.

Step 5. Now add chopped apple and mix well. Cook for few minutes till rava absorbs milk/water completely as shown below.

Step 6. Add sugar (2 cups) and a pinch of salt. Mix well.

 Step 7. Add some cashews.

Step 8. When mixture starts to thicken (or releases ghee) turn off the stove.

 Step 9. Enjoy!
